Preface
South Asia thrives on its rich tradition of storytelling. Over the past several decades, regional geographic and socio-cultural changes have given birth to countless new stories. Yet many of these stories remain untold to the billion plus people who call South Asia home. Despite a highly developed film industry in India and television industry in Pakistan, there has been very little collaboration on an equal footing between Pakistani and Indian storytellers.
The Kitnay Duur Kitnay Paas initiative brings together digital storytellers from Pakistan and India to make films against the backdrop of a very fragile cross-border collaborative climate. The initiative connects young and emerging filmmakers from both countries and supports their work to create fresh, riveting stories about their homes, families, communities, and societies.
The ultimate goal of the project is to highlight the cultures and traditions shared by the people of India and Pakistan and spur critical thinking on regional challenges.
